Now that you have taken part in Genius hour for a marking period, how can you relate to the article? Do you agree/disagree with the info in the article? Do you have anything new to add to the discussion?
Now that we have been participating in Genius hour for a quarter, I can definitely relate to this article. It allows students to brainstorm and do a project that THEY are interested in not what teachers assign. It is a nice way to be creative while still being productive. Since schools are pretty rigid in assignments and curriculum, many schools and students are not very use to this concept but it has had positive outcomes. I agree with the article and how it can be beneficial to students. One hour out of the week to research something that you are interested in is helpful and can inspire great ideas. It lets people know that it is okay to take risks and to not be afraid of failure. Having been taking part in Genius hour myself, it is a great idea and I think more schools should do it.
