Blog Post #8: Read the article "How Geniuses Think."Respond to the following: Describe the author's interpretation of Genius and how it differs from conventional definitions of Genius. What are the shared strategies of geniuses? How does your Genius Hour project encourage you to use some of these strategies?
The article discusses what being a genius entails and how they think. The average person thinks reproductively while a genius thinks productively. It does not depend on how smart or intelligent you are and shows there is a difference between intelligence and creativity as well. Genius has been tried to be studied through statistics but it has been discovered that it cannot simply be done that way. The author interprets geniuses as the world's greatest thinkers that have common thinking strategies which allow them to generate original ideas. The shared strategies that geniuses practice include, looking at the problem in many different ways, making their thoughts visible, productivity, form novel combinations, force relationships, think in opposites, think metaphorically, and prepare themselves for a chance. Becoming aware of these common strategies that geniuses share can allow anyone to become more better, more creative thinker. The article describes that geniuses know "how" to think which expands their brain to much more potential. Knowing this information can help us in our Genius Hour projects as well. As we have to be creative and think productively along the way, we have to perform many of these strategies. It gives us the opportunity to think in different perspectives and generate unique ideas.
